Sonic Sunset
January 2009: Distant Lights
Download at http://sonicsunset.com

Dave starts the night with a sunset of hazy feedback, a cluster of scintillating Chain Reaction chords, and then onward into the starry skyway. This set was recorded live at Chicago's Empty Bottle in May of 2007, opening for Berlin's Monolake, and was performed using Ableton's Live software.

For the San Francisco Bay Area heads, Dave will be laying down some eclectic wax this Friday at Swig in San Francisco (561 Geary) around 5 - 9 with N!k and Detroit aficionado Wojtek. Then on Saturday night Dave will be playing for the good folks at Black Market Techno at Oasis in Oakland (135 12th St) from 12 - 2, along with Leon & Javaight - plus residents Brendan Finlayson, dCOY, and Razvan. Would be cool to see you out!

All good music to you and yours in 2009!

Big hello from Chicago! Glad you found us.
You are subscribed to our mix update emails. We generally upload mixes monthly on http://SonicSunset.com. The email tells you when a new mix was added to our website, with a tracklist and links to download the file.

To keep things fresh, the MP3 file of each show only stays up on our website for a month or two, and then is replaced by newer mixes as they come out. Unfortunately we can't keep ALL of our mixes online indefinitely. (Though we DO encourage you to share our past mixes far and wide!). New for 2008, we added a "From the Vault" section that will feature older mixes or special 'feature' shows from the past we think deserve another listen - http://sonicsunset.com/from-the-vault

We had an FM broadcast radio show every Friday night for 7+ years in Chicago and recently moved to distribute our mixes via our website only. We are a completely non-commercial & independent program (no advertising), and we'd like to keep it that way. So if you're like what we're playing, tell a like-minded friend, blog/link to us, mention us on your discussion forums and podcasts. Word of mouth from listeners who 'understand' such a wide style of selection is what keeps us going.

Sonic Sunset is elsewhere online too:
